Central Heating

Eco Dragon heating engineers specialise in the design, specification and installation of gas, oil, LPG, Air Source and Ground Source Heat Pump heating systems. Whatever the size of your home, our Eco Dragon heating specialists can advise you on the best configuration to suit your specific needs.

You can rest assured that the advice you are being given is from an expert heating engineer who installs and maintains the central heating systems we are recommending. By replacing your old conventional boiler with a new energy efficient one, you can save on your bills by up to 40%.

Air Source Heat Pumps

How Does it Work?

Air source heat pumps absorb heat from the outside air. This heat can then be used to heat radiators, underfloor heating systems, or warm air convectors and hot water in your home.

An air source heat pump extracts heat from the outside air in the same way that a fridge extracts heat from its inside. It can get heat from the air even when the temperature is as low as -15° C. Heat pumps have some impact on the environment as they need electricity to run, but the heat they produce from the ground, air, or water is done so by using far less energy than traditional gas or oil boilers and at a reduced cost meaning much lower fuel bills and a greater reduction on carbon emissions into the environment.

Savings

How much you can save will depend on what system you use now, as well as what you are replacing it with. Your savings will be affected by:

Your heat distribution system

If you have the opportunity, underfloor heating can be more efficient than radiators because the water doesn't need to be so hot. If underfloor heating isn't possible, use the largest radiators you can.

Your old heating system

If your old heating system was inefficient, you are more likely to see lower running costs with a new heat pump.

Using the controls

Learn how to control the system so you can get the most out of it. You will probably need to set the heating to come on for longer hours, but you might be able to set the thermostat lower and still feel comfortable. Your installer should explain to you how to control the system so you can use it most effectively.

Your fuel costs

You will still have to pay fuel bills with a heat pump because it is powered by electricity, but you will save on the fuel you are replacing. If the fuel you are replacing is expensive you are more likely to make a saving.

An Air Source Heat Pump could save over £500 a year, on your heating bills and almost 5 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) a year, however savings will vary depending on the fuel being replaced.

Solar Thermal Hot Water

Benefits of Solar Thermal:

Hot Water throughout The Year

The system works all year round, although during the winter you may need to help further heat your water with a conventional system.

Cut Your Bills

Sunlight is free, so once you've paid for the initial installation your water heating bills will be reduced.

Cut Your Carbon Footprint

Solar hot water is a free, green and renewable, and also helps reduce your carbon footprint and CO2 emissions.

Low Environmental Impact

The average domestic system can reduce carbon dioxide emissions by around 325kg per year (depending on the fuel replaced).

Significant Savings

Can reduce hot water heating costs by up to 70% annually.
